Quick action between a carjacking victim and a good Samaritan today aided in the apprehension of a suspect at Lucky’s Custom Wheels & Tires on Lafayette Street.
Just before 10 a.m., the female victim was waiting in her red Kia Forte to have brake work done at the business when the suspect, Cedric Taylor, 27, approached her on foot. Taylor began punching her and demanding money, eventually pulling the woman from her car. The victim ran into the business for help.
Before Taylor could drive off in the car, the owner of the business intervened. With the victim’s permission, he broke the driver’s side window and forced Taylor out through the passenger side. The business owner and another witness detained Taylor until officers arrived on the scene.
The victim sustained minor injuries to her face and arm and was transported to the hospital. Cedric Taylor was charged with carjacking.
