CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Drivers traveling on SR 153 in Hamilton County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will impact traffic. Starting Friday, June 14, 2024, at 9:00 pm ET and continuing until 6:00 am ET on Monday, June 17, 2024, Tennessee Valley Authority contract crews will close the SR 153 North bridge over the Chickamauga Dam for repairs.
A signed detour will be in place to direct drivers around the closure. The detour route is as follows:

1. Take Exit 6 for SR 319, Amnicola Highway
2. Turn left onto SR 319, Amnicola Highway
3. Merge right to SR 319, DuPont Parkway
4. Turn left to return to SR 153 North
Drivers are encouraged to use extreme caution while traveling through this area. Queue trucks and law enforcement will be present to assist during the closure. The work is weather permitting, and in the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, it will be rescheduled.
