Gay Street Bridge Closed for Safety Repairs
A routine inspection by the Tennessee Department of Transportation found a compromised element on the Gay Street Bridge, leading to its immediate closure for safety reasons. The City of Knoxville and TDOT are conducting a detailed inspection to determine necessary repairs and the closure duration, ensuring the bridge’s safety. The closure will not affect tonight’s downtown parade celebrating the University of Tennessee’s national baseball championship.
