Office of Homeless Services Initiates Extreme Heat Measures

The Office of Homeless Services provides cool rides, bus passes, and encampment support during extreme heat.

The Office of Homeless Services has activated its heat response plan to assist those experiencing homelessness during periods of extreme heat. The office will assess weather conditions daily and adjust its response as needed.

On June 25, 2024, the office will provide free cool rides to safe and cool locations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individuals in need of these services can request rides by calling 615-844-3399. The shuttle service will transport requestees to designated cool locations to ensure their safety during extreme heat.

Additionally, outreach workers will be deployed to distribute bus passes and offer other supportive services to those in need. For further weather and safety updates, individuals can call 615-862-6391.

These measures are part of the Office of Homeless Services’ ongoing efforts to support homeless individuals during extreme weather conditions.
