Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of Teen in Nashville

Anthony L. Brooks charged with criminal homicide for the shooting of 17-year-old Ebonique Farris.

Anthony L. Brooks, 23, has been charged with criminal homicide following the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Ebonique Farris at Cumberland View Apartments on 25th Avenue North. The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Sunday in a courtyard of the apartment complex.

Farris was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. Brooks surrendered himself to the police at the scene, and his firearm was recovered. During an interview, Brooks admitted to shooting Farris following a verbal argument.

A mother and son, Michelle and Deandre Thornton, have been charged with attempted criminal homicide following a shooting on Rio Vista Drive that left a man seriously injured. They were arrested with firearms in their possession and are held on a $510,000 bond each.
