Specialized Investigations Division detectives’ efforts in precision policing led to the arrest of Desmond Jones, 29, who was wanted on five outstanding warrants. These warrants included aggravated assault, felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of reckless endangerment, and domestic assault.
Detectives located Jones driving a Nissan Rogue near Dickerson Pike and Old Hickory Boulevard. Jones was seen involved in what appeared to be a hand-to-hand narcotics transaction at a convenience store. As he left the parking lot, officers attempted to stop him, but he fled. Spike strips were successfully deployed, leading to Jones’s capture.
Four of the outstanding warrants were related to a gunfire incident on April 27 in the 700 block of Rowan Drive, where a residence was targeted but no one was struck. The domestic assault charge stemmed from a May 23 incident involving Jones and an ex-girlfriend.
At the time of his arrest, Jones was out on a $75,500 bond for an August 2023 arrest involving felony drug possession (including fentanyl), felon in possession of a firearm, and evading arrest. In addition to the outstanding warrants, Jones faces new charges of felony evading arrest and driving on a suspended license. He is currently being held on a $194,500 bond.
