Driver Dies in I-65 North Crash Near I-24 Split

A driver died in a crash on I-65 North, with two passengers sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

A driver has died following a crash that occurred on Saturday at 11 a.m. on I-65 North near the I-24 West split. According to the preliminary investigation, Roberto Estrada, 54, was driving his Dodge Ram pickup truck northbound on I-65 when the vehicle ran off the roadway at a curve. The truck spun, entered the grass median, and fell off a 20-foot cliff to the southbound side of I-65.

Estrada was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. His passengers, a 49-year-old and a 2-year-old, were also taken to Vanderbilt with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities reported no signs of impairment at the scene of the accident.
