Arts & Culture Alliance Hosts First Friday Block Party

First Friday block party by the Arts and Culture Alliance on June 7, 2024.

The Arts and Culture Alliance will host the first in a series of First Friday block parties on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the 100 Block of Gay Street. Consequently, Gay Street between Jackson and Vine avenues will be open only to pedestrians from 4 to 10 p.m.

Located at The Emporium at 100 S. Gay Street, the Arts and Culture Alliance has been organizing First Friday events in downtown Knoxville for two decades.

This inaugural block party, rescheduled after a May 3 cancellation due to storms, will begin at 6 p.m. The event will feature live music by The Merlin’s Nest and Nief-Norf Percussion Ensemble, along with over 20 local artists and vendors. Inside the Emporium, new exhibits by multiple artists, including members of the Fountain City Art Guild, will be showcased.

Parking meters on the 100 Block will be bagged at 2 p.m. as a reminder for drivers to move their vehicles. For parking options, visit DowntownKnoxville.org or download the Parkopedia app.
