Response by Specialized Investigations Division detectives to complaints of narcotics sales in the area of DeFord Bailey Avenue and 12th Avenue South resulted in Monday’s arrest of Adrian Lewis, 39, and the recovery of a handgun, heroin, cocaine, and fentanyl.
Detectives observed Lewis make what appeared to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction and then drive off in a Dodge Durango. Detectives followed him to a nearby gas station where he was taken into custody. Recovered from the SUV were a loaded nine-millimeter pistol with an extended magazine, 36.5 grams of cocaine, 42.3 grams of powder fentanyl, 6.9 grams of heroin, and approximately 100 fentanyl pills.
Lewis, a registered ex-con on federal supervised release, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in 2012. He is charged with felon in possession of a firearm, the commission of a felony while in possession of a gun, and three counts of felony drug possession. He remains jailed in lieu of $160,000 bond.
