Teenager Dies in ATV Crash on Darbytown Drive

A 14-year-old passenger died after an ATV crash involving a Jeep Patriot.

A tragic incident occurred on Darbytown Drive around 6 p.m. on Saturday evening, resulting in the death of a teenage girl. The accident involved a Honda ATV and a Jeep Patriot. The ATV, driven by a 14-year-old girl, collided with the driver’s side of the Jeep Patriot during the incident.

Both the driver of the ATV and her passenger, Melanie Mozqueda, also 14, were urgently taken to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital following the crash. Despite the prompt medical attention, Melanie Mozqueda succumbed to her injuries and died. The driver of the ATV survived but sustained minor injuries in the accident.

It was noted that neither of the teenagers on the ATV were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, which might have contributed to the severity of the injuries. The driver of the Jeep Patriot involved in the accident was not injured.

Authorities investigating the scene reported that there was no evidence of intoxication from any of the parties involved in the tragic event. The community has been left in mourning after the untimely death of the young teenager in such a heartbreaking accident.
