The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has provided an update on various roadway activities taking place across Region 2, impacting several counties including Cumberland, Coffee, and Hamilton. These activities include construction projects, utility work, and routine maintenance, which will require temporary lane closures, detours, and traffic control measures.
In Cumberland County, bridge construction and paving on SR-28 (US-127) from north of I-40 to near Potato Farm Road will necessitate temporary lane closures. Utility work on SR-1 (Sparta Hwy) will also cause intermittent stoppages and lane closures from East Main Pleasant Hill to Arthur Seagraves Road, Old Hwy 70 to Holiday Road, and Crossville Entrance Road to Northside Drive/Tennessee Avenue. Additionally, roundabout construction at SR-392 (Milo Lemert Pkwy) and SR-101 (Peavine Rd), and bridge replacement over the Obed River on SR-1 (US-70) will result in closures and detours.
In Coffee County, utility work on SR-55 (E. Carroll St) will involve police-assisted rolling roadblocks, and ongoing construction of an overpass at I-24 (MM 105) will continue with lane reductions and temporary traffic signals in place. Roadway widening and bridge replacement on SR-55 from First Avenue to SR-16 (N. Jackson St) in Tullahoma will result in lane shifts. Nightly lane closures will occur on SR-55 from north of Harper Lane to SR-2 (US-41) for resurfacing work.
In Hamilton County, several projects will affect traffic flow, including interchange modifications at I-75 and Paul Huff Parkway, widening on SR-60, and utility work on SR-2 (Lee Hwy) and SR-312 (Birchwood Pk). Nightly lane closures on I-24 from east of the I-124 ramps to east of Long Street and on I-75 at the Hamilton Place Mall interchange will be necessary for various construction activities. Resurfacing on SR-29 (US-27) and utility work on SR-17 (S. Willow St) and SR-317 (Apison Pike) will also cause intermittent closures and traffic control measures.
Motorists are advised to use caution, reduce speed, and follow posted signs and flaggers while traveling through these work zones. The TDOT encourages drivers to stay informed of ongoing roadwork and plan alternative routes when necessary.
