Nashville Honors Fallen Officers in Annual Memorial Service

Nashville's police memorial service honors officers who died on duty.

Nashville is set to hold its annual memorial service to honor the city’s law enforcement officers who have lost their lives while serving the community. The event will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, located at 108 7th Avenue South, near the intersection of 7th and Broadway.

Sponsored by the Andrew Jackson Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, the memorial service pays tribute to the 47 officers who, since 1875, have made the ultimate sacrifice in their line of duty to protect the residents of Nashville. Among those remembered will be Officer John Anderson, the most recent Metro officer to lose his life in the line of duty. Officer Anderson tragically passed away on July 4, 2019, following a collision at the intersection of Interstate Drive and Woodland Street when his police vehicle was struck by another car.

This solemn event serves as a reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face daily and the profound impact their dedication has on ensuring the safety and security of the community. The memorial also provides an opportunity for the community, fellow officers, and the families of the fallen to come together in remembrance and gratitude for the sacrifices made by these brave individuals.
