The Murfreesboro City Council has announced a special meeting to be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 9 a.m. The meeting will take place at the Murfreesboro Municipal Airport located at 1930 Memorial Boulevard, Murfreesboro, TN. The primary agenda for this gathering is to conduct interviews with internal candidates who are in the running for the position of City Manager.
This decision comes after the current City Manager, Craig Tindall, informed the City Council Workshop Meeting on April 11, 2024, of his plans to step down from his position. Tindall has expressed his intention to transition to a new role as Special Counsel, where he will focus on specific projects related to the Murfreesboro Airport, the Community Investment Trust, and the Solid Waste Authority.
Tindall has committed to remaining in his current role through the end of the current budget cycle, ensuring a smooth transition. His change in position will become official under an amended employment agreement set to take effect on July 2, 2024.
The upcoming special meeting reflects the City Council’s proactive approach to finding a suitable successor who can continue to lead Murfreesboro effectively. The Council’s decision to focus on internal candidates suggests a preference for individuals already familiar with the city’s operations and its future objectives.
The City Council’s meeting is open to the public, and interested parties are encouraged to attend at the specified location. Further details regarding the meeting and the City Manager search process can be expected as the date approaches.
