Update: The motorcyclist killed in Sunday’s crash on I-24 West has been identified as Omar Alamilla, 23, of LaVergne.
A motorcyclist has died following Sunday’s 6:30 p.m. crash on I-24 West and I-440 West. A 23-year-old was driving his Honda CBR motorcycle onto the I-440 westbound ramp from I-24 when, for reasons unknown, he ran off the right shoulder of the exit ramp at a curve into the guardrail.
He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died. Efforts are currently underway to notify his family.
He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Toxicology testing will be conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine if impairment was a factor.
