In a tragic incident early Monday morning, an 81-year-old driver lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 East near McCrory Lane. The victim has been identified as Jimmie Chandler, a resident of Nashville.
The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. when Chandler, driving a Mazda Miata, veered off the road for reasons still under investigation. The vehicle crossed into the center median and collided with a digital message sign pole. Chandler was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have stated that there were no immediate signs of impairment involved in the crash.
