A tragic incident occurred on Sunday night just before midnight on I-24 East near Harding Place, resulting in the death of a passenger. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Keijhan Ameer Roby, was in the rear seat of a white Dodge Charger when the vehicle met with a severe accident.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Dodge Charger, driven by 25-year-old Daniel Lorenzo Tyler, was traveling at a high rate of speed along the eastbound lanes. Tyler was reportedly attempting to overtake other vehicles by driving on the shoulder when he lost control of the car. Subsequently, the vehicle rotated and impacted a rock wall on its rear side, leading to catastrophic consequences.
Roby suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the crash site. Meanwhile, the driver, Tyler, sustained serious injuries and was urgently transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. Remarkably, the front seat passenger emerged from the incident without any injuries.
Initial assessments at the scene indicated no signs of impairment on the part of the driver or passengers. However, the exact cause of the crash and factors contributing to the loss of control are still under investigation by the authorities.
This incident adds to the growing concerns over high-speed driving and its potential risks, especially on busy interstates like I-24. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover more details about the crash dynamics and any possible preventive measures that can be taken to avoid such tragic outcomes in the future.
