Convicted Felon Arrested on 13 Outstanding Warrants, Guns Seized

Nashville police apprehended Aury Newsom, a convicted felon, on 13 outstanding warrants and recovered two firearms.

Tonight, Violent Crimes detectives apprehended one of MNPD’s Most Wanted individuals, Aury Newsom, 24, a convicted felon out of Sumner County, on 13 outstanding warrants, including eight burglary counts. Newsom was located by detectives at a home on Buchanan Street. Two firearms, one of which was stolen from LaVergne in 2021, were recovered during his arrest.

Several of Newsom’s charges stemmed from multiple domestic violence incidents dating back to 2022. That May, Newsom’s girlfriend was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after he allegedly shot her while she was holding their infant. Then last month, while visiting his child, Newsom is accused of pistol whipping the same woman and she was once again hospitalized for her injuries.

He was also indicted on eight burglary charges by a grand jury, all occurring within the last two years. The majority of the burglaries involve business’ safes being stolen through forced entry. Newsom is additionally charged with two counts of felon in possession of a handgun. He is currently being jailed on $463,500 bond.
