Carl Jerome Hamilton, 34, a convicted felon who has been charged with 105 offenses in Nashville since 2007, was arrested for the rape, kidnapping, and robbery of a 25-year-old female Amazon delivery worker. The attack occurred around 4 a.m. in the mailroom of an apartment building at 723 President Ronald Reagan Way.
According to police, Hamilton pushed the victim further into the mailroom, shut the door, demanded she remove her clothing, and sexually assaulted her. He then forced her to accompany him in her vehicle to an ATM on Murfreesboro Pike, where he used her debit card to withdraw $100. Hamilton drove the victim around for about an hour before leaving her and her car.
Central Precinct detectives, South Precinct officers, and Special Victims Unit detectives collaborated on the investigation. Surveillance cameras at the apartment building provided clear images of the attacker. As officers were about to leave the building, Hamilton, wearing the same clothing, was seen passing by the front window and was immediately taken into custody. The apartment building manager recognized Hamilton due to his previous arrests at the property for criminal trespassing on March 5th and January 2nd.
In 2020, Hamilton was arrested for kidnapping and robbery related to his assault on a 24-year-old woman on Academy Place. He was convicted of those offenses in July 2022 and received a six-year sentence.
