Youth Services detectives are urgently requesting the public’s assistance to apprehend a suspect involved in the sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy in Seven Oaks Park, located off McGavock Pike in South Nashville. The distressing incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, underlining concerns about safety in public recreational areas.
According to the young victim, who had ventured to the park from his nearby residence, he was only in the park for approximately 15 minutes before being confronted by an unidentified man. The assailant forcibly grabbed the teen by the arm and dragged him into a secluded, wooded section of the park, where he then committed the sexual assault. The attack was abruptly halted when the perpetrator noticed the presence of other individuals nearby, prompting him to flee the scene.
The suspect is described as a white male, around 50 years of age, with notable features including freckles and crooked teeth. At the time of the assault, he was dressed in a black ball cap, a black zip-up jacket that lacked a hood, blue shorts, a gray shirt, and gray and white tennis shoes. Witnesses reported last seeing the man leaving the area in a 2000s model Honda Civic sedan, heading in the direction of Knight Drive. The Nashville Police Department has disseminated a photo of the vehicle and officers across the city are on high alert for any sightings.
