The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced multiple lane closures across West Tennessee from March 20th to March 27th, 2024, due to ongoing maintenance and construction activities. These closures are essential for paving operations, bridge repairs, resurfacing projects, and safety improvements across various counties including Benton, Dyer, Gibson, Carroll, Obion, Crockett, Haywood, Lauderdale, Shelby, and Tipton.
Notably, Easter holiday traffic will see some reprieve as TDOT has specified that there will be no temporary lane closures from Thursday, March 28, 6:00 p.m., through Monday, April 1, 6:00 a.m. This is to accommodate increased travel during the holiday period.

Key roadworks include daytime and nighttime lane closures in various locations for pavement repairs, retracing of pavement markings, and guardrail repairs. Specific projects highlighted in the announcement include:
– I-40 in Benton County will see temporary lane closures for milling and paving operations between MM 126.0 and the Tennessee River Bridge. These are scheduled from March 20 through March 22 and then from March 25 through March 28.
– Bridge repair on US 412 (SR 20) over the North Fork Forked Deer River in Dyer County will lead to temporary lane closures with traffic reduced to one lane in each direction starting April 10, 2023.
– In Gibson and Carroll Counties, US 79 (SR 76) will undergo grading, drainage, and construction work causing temporary lane closures throughout the project duration.
Additionally, various safety and resurfacing improvements will cause lane closures on US-51 in Lauderdale County and on I-240, I-55, SR-57, and other routes in Shelby County. Notable closures include the Shady Grove Rd. Bridge over I-240 in East Memphis, which will be closed for repairs until August 30th, and various nighttime closures for drainage installation and bridge repairs.
