Security Guard Killed in Early Morning Shooting

A security guard was fatally shot outside a Nashville night club.

In a tragic incident early this morning, a security guard was fatally shot in the parking lot of Illuzion Bar and Lounge, located at 2510 Murfreesboro Pike in Nashville. The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Maurice Thomas, Jr.

According to the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department, homicide unit detectives are actively pursuing leads to identify the perpetrators, believed to be car burglars, who confronted Thomas while he was on patrol around 2 a.m. During the encounter, multiple shots were fired, leading to Thomas sustaining fatal wounds. It remains unclear if Thomas managed to fire any shots from his own weapon before being rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

In the aftermath of the shooting, officers discovered three vehicles in the parking lot that had been burglarized. These vehicles have since been impounded and are currently undergoing thorough examination by evidence specialists.

The Nashville Metropolitan Police Department is appealing to the public for any information that might lead to the arrest of those responsible for the murder of Maurice Thomas.
