In a significant development in the ongoing investigation of a deadly shooting that occurred on February 25th, Nashville’s Specialized Investigations Division detectives have apprehended a second teenager. The arrest took place late Thursday night, targeting 16-year-old Raymond Alexander Harris for the murder of 21-year-old Emanuel Scott at Charter Village Apartments in Madison.
Harris, who resides within the very same apartment complex where the crime unfolded, was taken into custody without incident at the intersection of N. 5th Street and Vernon Winfrey Avenue. Following his arrest, he was transported to juvenile detention, where he faces criminal homicide charges.
This latest arrest follows closely on the heels of the detention of 15-year-old Jakari Pirtle, also a resident of Charter Village Apartments. Pirtle’s arrest occurred on Wednesday after detectives intercepted his vehicle at the junction of 11th Avenue North and Jo Johnston Avenue. Like Harris, Pirtle has been charged with criminal homicide and is currently held at juvenile detention.
The investigation, spearheaded by Homicide Unit Detective Jeff Jobe, suggests that the tragic shooting of Scott was the result of an attempted robbery gone fatally awry. Despite these two arrests, the hunt for a third suspect continues, with law enforcement urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward through Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
The community, still reeling from the violence that claimed the life of a young man, watches closely as justice seeks its course, hoping for closure and peace for Emanuel Scott’s loved ones.
