The City of Murfreesboro is committed to supporting its employees through all stages of their careers, including the transition into retirement. To this end, the city’s Human Resources Department is hosting a series of educational events titled “Planning for Your Retirement,” aimed at providing employees with the necessary tools and information to prepare for this significant life change.
The presentations, organized by the City of Murfreesboro Human Resources Department, will feature insights from Human Resources experts Fredia Coldwell, Karen Heyduck, and Beverly Alexander, along with representatives from retirement planning firms Voya and Mission Square, including Ed Stewart and Trey Sizemore. These sessions are designed to help City of Murfreesboro employees understand their defined pension plans, healthcare considerations in retirement, options for continuing voluntary benefits, and an overview of Voya and Mission Square retirement plans.
The event series will take place at various locations across the city, including the Police Department Community Room, the Airport Business Center, City Hall Council Chambers, and the Solid Waste Conference Room, with dates ranging from April 5 to May 1. Each presentation will cover critical topics such as pension plan payment options, planning retirement information meetings with HR, and vesting processes.
Participants are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible due to limited seating. Registration can be completed through the city’s Learning Management System (LMS) by visiting the LMS Events Calendar. This offers an opportunity for employees at any stage of their career to gain valuable insights into retirement planning and to start preparing for a secure and comfortable future.
The City of Murfreesboro looks forward to assisting its employees in making informed decisions about their retirement and ensuring they have the resources needed to transition smoothly into this new chapter of their lives.
