Nashville’s Central Precinct detectives are intensifying efforts to apprehend a man connected to numerous downtown thefts, targeting intoxicated victims. Joshua Ray Cloyd, 32, faces nine outstanding warrants for a series of incidents where individuals on Lower Broadway had their phones, wallets, and credit cards stolen under his alleged schemes.
In one case from last November, a victim reported the theft of an iPhone 14, which was traced to a Cash app transaction leading to a hotel room purchase in Madison—a transaction linked to Cloyd. Similarly, another incident in January involved a victim who had his iPhone and credit cards stolen from his pockets while at a Broadway bar. The stolen items were tracked to a different hotel in Madison, with Cloyd’s activities also detected at nearby ATMs and gas stations.
Facing charges that include computer violation fraud, credit card fraud, and theft, Cloyd’s alleged exploitation of downtown revelers has prompted a citywide alert. The Nashville Police Department urges anyone with information on Cloyd’s whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463, in hopes of curtailing a spree that has left numerous victims in its wake.
