Knoxville City Offices Closed for Good Friday

Knoxville announces service changes for the Good Friday holiday.

City of Knoxville offices will be closed on Friday, March 29, 2024, in observance of the Good Friday holiday. This closure brings several adjustments to city services, though some operations will continue as normal.

Among the services impacted, all City-operated Community Centers will not open on Friday. Additionally, the City’s Solid Waste Facility located at 1033 Elm Street will remain closed both Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 30, 2024. For residents needing assistance or wishing to report issues, the 311 and 211 customer service phone centers will not operate on Friday. The city encourages residents to use the My Knoxville app, available for iPhone and Android, which can be downloaded at KnoxvilleTN.gov/App. Service requests can also be made online at www.KnoxvilleTN.gov/311, via email, or for a list of social services, at 211.org.

Not all services will see changes. The City’s five recycling drop-off centers will be open on March 29, but Goodwill attendants will only be available to accept donations of household goods until 1 p.m. The city requests that residents do not leave donations at unattended centers.

For garbage and recycling, Waste Connections will maintain its normal residential routes, and downtown trash and recyclables will be collected as usual throughout the holiday weekend. Likewise, Knoxville Area Transit buses will operate on their regular schedule, ensuring that transportation services remain unaffected by the holiday.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly for these service changes and to enjoy the holiday weekend safely.
