Knoxville Announces Free Spring and Summer Events for 2024

Knoxville reveals a lineup of free, family-friendly outdoor events for 2024.

As spring approaches, the City of Knoxville is excited to invite residents to a series of free, family-friendly events scheduled throughout the warmer months of 2024. These events, organized by the City’s Office of Special Events in collaboration with multiple City departments and community organizations, aim to provide enjoyable outdoor activities for the whole family.

One of the highlights of Knoxville’s spring and summer events is the “Concerts on the Square” series, which includes both “Jazz Tuesdays” and “Variety Thursdays.” Sponsored by Comcast and supported by several local partners, including the Downtown Knoxville Alliance and the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra, these concerts bring live music to the heart of the city at no cost to attendees.

“Jazz Tuesdays” will feature performances by a variety of Knoxville’s jazz talents, such as Taber Gable, Greg Tardy, and Ken Brown, among others. These concerts will take place on Tuesdays in May, June, and September from 7 to 9 p.m. on the Market Square stage. The full lineup of performers will be announced on the City’s official website.

“Variety Thursdays” promise a diverse musical experience with performances scheduled every third Thursday starting in May. Acts will range from the 12 Eleven Band to the Bicho Brothers, offering something for every musical taste.

In addition to the concert series, the “Kid A’Riffic Fun in the Park” events will provide free activities for children aged 2-12. These events will feature crafts, games, and giveaways at various parks around the city on Wednesdays in June and July. Locations include Baxter Avenue Park, Chilhowee Park, and World’s Fair Park, among others, ensuring that fun is accessible across Knoxville.

For more information on these events, including a full calendar and details about the performers, residents are encouraged to visit KnoxvilleTN.gov/Events. Updates and weather-related cancellations will be posted on the City of Knoxville Special Events Facebook page.
