Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Smith Springs Road

A pedestrian was killed by a Nissan Altima on Wednesday night.

A pedestrian has tragically lost his life following a collision that occurred at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, on Smith Springs Road near Castlegate Drive. According to the preliminary investigation report, 24-year-old Perry Reed was walking on the right side of the road heading westbound when he was struck by a Nissan Altima.

The driver of the Nissan has stated to the authorities that she did not see Reed prior to the collision. She remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with law enforcement officials. Initial assessments by the police indicated that the driver showed no signs of impairment at the time of the incident.

Following the crash, Perry Reed was urgently transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for medical attention. Despite the efforts to save him, Reed succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. In order to further investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event, the Medical Examiner’s Office will be conducting toxicology testing to determine if impairment played a role in the fatal crash.

The Nashville Police Department is continuing its investigation into this incident and is urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in their inquiries.
