The Country Music Association (CMA), a prominent organization within the Country Music industry, recently recognized significant international achievements with its 2023 CMA International Awards. This celebration coincided with the association’s participation in the C2C: Country to Country Festival across the UK and Europe, underscoring the CMA’s commitment to promoting Country Music on a global scale.

Milly Olykan, CMA’s Vice President of International Relations and Development, expressed excitement over the genre’s unprecedented global reach in 2023 and anticipates continued momentum in the coming year. The association’s presence at C2C, a major event for Country Music enthusiasts outside the United States, provided a unique opportunity to engage with fans and showcase the genre’s international appeal.

During the festival, Olykan, alongside radio broadcaster Baylen Leonard, presented the Wesley Rose International Media Achievement Award to Ross Jones, Editor of Holler. Jones was recognized for his innovative contributions to the global expansion of Country Music. The award ceremony took place during the CMA Songwriters Series at indigo at The O2, adding a special moment to the evening’s festivities.

Additionally, Ricky Ross, a respected BBC radio host, received the International Country Broadcaster Award from Country Music artist Carly Pearce. The award acknowledged Ross’s impactful broadcasting career and was presented during an interview on BBC Radio Scotland’s “Another Country.”

The CMA also showcased its acclaimed CMA Songwriters Series and Introducing Nashville lineup, featuring performances by notable artists such as Colbie Caillat, Lauren Alaina, and Stephen Wilson Jr., among others. The events highlighted the diverse voices within Country Music and provided fans with an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the artists’ creative processes.

In London, the CMA organized several industry events aimed at fostering international relationships within the Country Music community. These gatherings, including a C2C Kickoff Reception with BBC Radio 2, offered valuable networking opportunities and discussions on the genre’s expansion.

The CMA’s international efforts will continue with visits to the CMC Rocks festival in Australia and a special Introducing Nashville showcase in New Zealand, featuring artists Cooper Alan, Priscilla Block, and Megan Moroney. Through its initiatives, the CMA remains dedicated to advancing the growth of Country Music worldwide, celebrating the genre’s universal appeal and the individuals who contribute to its success.
