The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced a temporary closure of the I-55 Mississippi River Bridge this coming weekend to facilitate ongoing construction projects at the I-55 and Crump interchange. This closure marks the fourth of eight total weekend closures stipulated in the project’s contract, all of which are contingent on favorable weather conditions.

The bridge will be inaccessible from Saturday, February 24, at 5:00 am until Monday, February 26, at 6:00 am. During this period, southbound lanes will be closed at Bridgeport Road in Arkansas, and northbound lanes will be closed at South Parkway in Tennessee. However, local traffic will still be allowed up to the McLemore exit. Additionally, the southbound ramp of I-55 and westbound lanes of Crump Boulevard will be shut down. A detour route will be clearly marked for affected motorists.

In addition to the weekend closures, the contract also includes provisions for two extended two-week closures of the I-55 bridge, with the first scheduled to commence on March 10. These closures are part of a broader initiative to enhance and maintain the infrastructure of the bridge and surrounding areas, ensuring the safety and efficiency of this critical transport link.
