MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced that the northbound lanes of Germantown Road will be temporarily closed for upcoming weekends to facilitate repairs on the Wolf River Bridge. The closures are part of a larger project that will see the road fully closed for a 10-day period starting the weekend following the initial closure.

The first round of closures is scheduled from Friday, February 23, at 8:00 pm, through to Monday, February 26, at 6:00 am. The road will again be closed the next weekend, starting from Friday, March 1, at 8:00 pm, and will remain closed until Monday, March 11, at 6:00 am. During these times, the southbound lanes of Germantown Road will remain open to traffic. Motorists are advised to follow the detour signs posted around the construction zone.

TDOT emphasizes that all scheduled work is subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists planning to travel through the area are encouraged to stay informed about the latest construction activity and traffic conditions. Real-time traffic updates can be accessed through the TDOT SmartWay website at www.TNSmartWay.com/Traffic, which also offers live streaming of traffic cameras. Travelers can dial 511 for up-to-the-minute travel information or follow TDOT on Twitter for updates specific to statewide travel or West Tennessee.

In light of the upcoming disruptions, TDOT urges drivers to plan their trips in advance and make use of all available motorist information tools to ensure a smooth journey. The department also reminds drivers of the importance of safe driving practices, advising against the use of mobile devices for tweeting, texting, or talking while driving. By staying informed and prepared, motorists can navigate the closures on Germantown Road with minimal inconvenience.
